I'm really feeling it!

Trainime - New Season Impressions Part 3

Welcome to another round of impressions for the new season! This week had the ... leftovers in terms of shows that I was looking at watching this season, basically ones I wasn't hyped about or that I had no idea what they were going to be about. There was one I even knew I was going to dislike going, but journalistic integrity and all right? So what were my impressions this week? Here we go:

Akuma No Riddle

So, how do I describe this show? hmmm. It's a weird one, but I'll give it a shot. It's about an assassin girl Azuma Tokaku who is tasked with entering a class full of assassin girls with one goal in mind. To assassinate the one non-assassin in the class. Too bad for Tokaku, that she develops feelings for her. I really don't know if this bonkers premise will play out well or not, the show seems to revel in a ridiculous amount of angst, but at the same time Haru and Tokaku have an instant chemistry sooooo I guess we'll see how this one goes?

Verdict: I seriously don't know... yeesh that's a first

Knights of Sidonia

I'm going to have to thank U.I. here for my enjoyment of the first episode of the show. He gave me his impressions of the episode (basically that it's horrible) and that took me way off the hype train and lowered my expectations. So, I went in expecting crap, and was surprised to find a show that's slightly above mediocre. I think it's the facial animation that's really throwing me off... something with the way their mouths move is unnerving. Basic Mech show about a kid who lived far below the surface finally surfacing to fight giant aliens (in a giant robot of course).

Verdict: Despite the facial animation, I'm optimistic

Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara

This is a show that really surprised me, usually there's one or two shows per season that I wasn't expecting to enjoy and really grabs me and doesn't let go. Last season it was Nobunagun and No-Rin. This season might just be Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara, it has it's own pace and lambasts all of the tropes that seem to come up in anime and JRPGs/Dating Sims. I'm reminded of The World God Only Knows a little bit here and that's not a bad comparison to have at all. The show is about a boy who can see "flags" above people's heads and manipulate events to avoid them. Hilarity ensues.

Verdict: I'm Optimistic about this one

Fuun Ishin Dai Shogun

Crap animation. Bonkers Story. Stupid amount of fanservice. Annoying as hell main character. I thought Blade & Soul was going to be the worst show I watched this season. I was wrong. Fuun Ishin Dai Shogun, Congration You Done it! You're the worst!

Verdict: I'm running like the plague again!

Soul Eater Not!

Soul Eater Not! is the spin off of the popular show Soul Eater, however it's only tangentially related to the original. At least so far, anyway. Our main characters don't carry over from the other show and the art style is COMPLETELY different. Originally the moe-esque art style turned me off from it initially and put it on my leftovers list, but the main character is fairly charming and I find myself wanting to see the character succeed, so maybe this could be a good one?

Verdict: Cautiously Optimistic
