I have a weekly series I write that I post every single Saturday. I didn’t post today because I didn’t have it done. I was unproductive all week.
I didn’t even sit down to start working on this week’s entry until Thursday. I kept telling myself I’ll just do this one thing then write all day until the day was done. What was I doing instead? Playing video games, mostly. Half the time it wasn’t even working on the games for my backlog progress report and instead playing multiplayer games and crap like that. I also watched a lot of YouTube.
By the time it was Friday I was like I’ll just sit down and write the whole rest of this today ... then I didn’t. I made good progress today, though, but just didn’t have the time to finish it. So I’ve got one hour left in the day now, and I don’t want to miss another day in the SixTAY Days of Writing challenge, so here I am just word vomiting again. I don’t even know where this is going, so I’m just going to think aloud here for a moment.
We’ve only got about 2 weeks left in this challenge and I’m five posts behind. I really need to kick my butt into gear and write. I also want to avoid getting my weekly scheduled series posts done the last minute. I want to get back to having a huge backlog of posts built up so I don’t need to do this scrambling anymore. With that in mind, what are some strategies you guys use to keep yourself motivated to work on stuff, or to keep yourself from procrastinating? I know a lot of you suffer from the same bad habit I do!
