I'm going to leave this one suuuuuper wide-open. I know there are more TAY users like me - I own over 200 movies between BR and DVD, and I've probably seen more than 1000 films in my lifetime. I started really getting into movies right when DVDs were selling for like, $5-10 each, and that's why I have such a huge collection - I bought a ton of movies outright, since it was cheaper than renting. It's so hard to pick just one favourite, or even five, or a top ten... I had to limit my collection solely by what movies I'd give on honest 10/10 to.

Those movies [in rough alphabetical order - some of them are part of compilations, so they're out of place]:
- Pi
- 12 Monkeys
- 1408
- Alien
- Aliens
- All The President's Men
- The Bourne Identity
- Castle in the Sky
- Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro
- Creepshow
- Darkman
- Dawn of the Dead (the original one, not that fucking slo-mo new one)
- The Dead Zone
- Die Hard
- Donnie Darko
- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (the Swedish one)
- The Great Escape
- Freaks
- Jacob's Ladder
- Jurassic Park
- LA Confidential
- Let The Right One In
- Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
- Lord of the Rings trilogy (maybe not Fellowship though)
- Misery
- Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
- Network
- Nightmare on Elm Street (the original one)
- Planet of the Apes (original one)
- Re-Animator
- Roger & Me
- Serenity (but oddly, I don't like the Firefly series!)
- Silence of the Lambs
- Star Wars (but only the first one from 1977)
- The Terminator 1 + 2
- Total Recall
- They Live
- Things (but only because it's the finest funny-bad movie I've ever seen)
- Tremors
- The Truman Show
- Videodrome
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

I have to confess something, TAY - I'm a huge effects fan. Especially of real effects, not the fake-ass CGI garbage. I also like a lot of mindfuck horror, but I'll be the first to admit that I haven't watched enough David Lynch (loved Twin Peaks, got genuinely scared while watching Eraserhead - that fucking baby creature, man...). But, I'm also not above loving a film solely because it's a great film, a la films like All The President's Men and LA Confidential. And as with movies like LotR and Jurassic Park, I'm okay with CGI effects so long as they're not leaned on too heavily - if it can be done with real sets and make-up, it SHOULD be done with real sets and makeup. Peter Jackson understands this, and I like the cut of his gib (I did a pun).

But yeah. I hope we get a solid movie discussion going, because I feel like there's not enough of it on TAY! :D Have fun.
