God Save The Queen, and the English team too! Fwoah! that Suarez, he's something else, eh? a unique and remarkable spirit in both goals against the Three Lions. And to think that Uruguay were worried about not having a player who would get the ball to Lucho Suarez, but Stevie G came to save the day, only he thought he was playing in Liverpool! Oh Steve...

So, England are... not out yet! They depend on Italy winning both of their remaining matches (today against Costa Rica, and in 4 days against Uruguay), if Gli Azzurri manages to give them a helping hand, then it's up to England to win against Costa Rica with a goal difference of two or more goals!

Elsewhere in Brazil, Japan and Greece emulated the worst match in history of the World Cup, nothing to add there it was just horrendous! Gladly Colombia did offer a explosive display against Les Éléphantes. Who needs Radamel Falcao when you have a trident of attack as dynamic and thrilling as the one at the disposition of Jose Pekerman? and that James Rodriguez! Truly impressive, FIFA please put him in the shortlist of Player of the World Cup! I'm waiting...

Anyway, Day 9. First up is Italy vs Costa Rica, "Super Mario" Balotelli has demanded a Kiss from the Queen of England if Italy manages to beat the Ticos! So the question here is, Will the Queen do her part?

Afterwards it's a battle of the cheeses, well not really, But Switzerland faces La France! Inspired after their trashing of the Honduran team last week, can Les Bleus take off once again? Or will the sharp Swiss cut them back with their counter-attacking football?

Also on group E, it's Ecuador who fell victim of Switzerland last gasp attack, against the brawlers of Honduras. Both teams are known for their physical prowess, and tactical discipline. But when frustration gets the better of them forget about kicking the ball it's time to break some legs!

So what I'm going to do here it's something different, we are not going to predict the goals for this game. Non... We are going to predict how many yellow and red cards are going to be won by each team. It's going to be bloody, and messy and only one will survive!

Matches for today:

  • 12:00 PM EST: Italy vs Costa Rica @ Estádio Nacional de Brasilia, Brasília.

My Prediction:

Italy 2 - 0 Costa Rica

  • 3:00 PM EST: Switzerland vs France @ Arena Corinthians, São Paulo.

My prediction:

Switzerland 1 - 1 France

  • 6:00 PM EST: Honduras vs Ecuador @ Estádio das Dunas, Natal.

My prediction:

Jokes aside... my real prediction:

To make things a bit more interesting... a point will be awarded to those who get the results right and two extra points for each correct scoreline. Feeling lucky? Then make a bold prediction and win an extra point for each one you get right, like No cards will be given at the Ecuador vs Honduras game or Mario Balotelli scoring the winning goal and celebrating it in the most hilarious and controversial way by brandishing a blow up doll with the picture of the queen!

So TAY what are your predictions for today's matches?

I took the liberty to create a spreadsheet (still on the early stages) to make it easier to keep track of our records... anyway, if you want to access it, just click here.
