Buster Bluth's mother wasn't there to say he was only dreaming, so when he saw the pink puff ball he knew it was Kirby. They would be friends forever.

You are a writer. You write. It's your calling. But, you don't write stories like ye olde English teacher Mrs. Chang taught with all those soggy, Dickensian kind of characters. You want to create a whole new world. Shining, shimmering, and splendid. You will write fanfic. Here are three tips to help you write that perfect fanfic ye bard of letters!

1. Make Your Readers Believe

We live for the mash-up, but we can't just allow Buster and Kirby to live in the same world without a thoroughly believable explanation. Forget mysteriously mysterious portals or space-time distortions. Share your fantastic point of view. Try using an infectious disease that gives them the power for their worlds to collide, for example. Don't be afraid to take your readers wonder by wonder.

Buster realized that his nasal congestion had opened a doorway to a whole new world.

"Don't you dare close your eyes," Kirby said to Buster.

2. Send Them On Holiday

If you're story takes place during an international holiday, like the 4th of July, things get boring faster than a fireworks display. Try picking an exotic holiday like Hanukkah. The change will allow your characters to explore a dazzling place they never knew. You may surprise yourself on what your characters want to do in a whole new world.

While Buster and Kirby visited Japan they decided to take in the sights of Kanamari Matsuri, a festival dedicated to wieners.

"What a new fantastic point of view! No one to tell us "no" or where to go," Buster said gleefully putting on a kimono.

3. Back from the Dead

When characters come back to life from the brink of death they experience unbelievable sights, and indescribable feelings. If your readers weren't invested in your characters before, they now will chase them anywhere. The rest of your story should take advantage of this and send your readers over, sideways, and under on a magic carpet ride.

As Kirby began to fade, Buster held the pink puff he now called "friend" in his arms.

"Imma Monster!" Buster cried to the heavens.

And through the power of love only a true MotherBoy contestant could provide, Kirby came back to life like a phoenix from a wondrous place.

"For you and for me," Kirby whispered. "Now, let's go defeat Godzilla once and for all."

With these tips, you'll have your readers soaring, tumbling, freewheeling through an endless diamond sky... of your perfect fanfic.
